We already had the Guava Lotus travel crib from my son, so when my daughter was born the Guava Lotus Bassinet was an easy call. I knew I wanted her sleeping close, and I wanted something small and light I could move around the house. Here is how we actually used it.
What is in this review
The short version
Great product, great experience. It is small, genuinely lightweight, sets up in seconds, and rocks. We used it from newborn until she simply got too big for it, and it earned its keep every day. If you already like the Guava Lotus system, the bassinet is a natural add.
The closet trick
When she got a little bigger and waking right next to me got to be too much, we moved the bassinet into our primary bedroom closet. She had her own little space, still in our room, just not right on top of me. It is one of my favorite parenting hacks and the bassinet made it possible.
The rocking base
It has a gentle rocking motion, and I used it constantly. If she was fussy next to the bed, I would just reach a foot over and rock it (or, honestly, jiggle it) until she settled. Small feature, but a big payoff at 3 a.m.
A safe spot to just be
I would sometimes drop contrast cards in with her and she would happily hang out, looking around, part of the family space but in her own safe area. For the newborn months, having a light, moveable, safe place to set her down was worth every penny.
Does it pack for travel?
We honestly used ours entirely at home, so I will be straight about that. But it uses the same Z-fold as the Lotus crib and packs into a backpack-style carry bag within carry-on size, so it is built to travel even though we never flew with this one specifically. Setup is under 30 seconds: unfold the legs, open it, clip on the rocker bases, drop in the mattress.
